Henri Matisse, Nu accroupi I, 1947
Henri Matisse, Nu accroupi I, 1947
Nu accroupi I, 1947. Henri Matisse (1869-1954).
This special edition of Verve is dedicated entirely to the final works of Matisse from 1950 to 1954. These works, reproduced in vibrant lithography, were created by the artist using gouache-colored papers, meticulously cut with scissors, and expertly pasted. Accompanying them are drawings from the same period or earlier. Matisse personally designed the cover for this volume. The initial lithographic plates were printed under his supervision in 1954. The printing process, including the color lithographs by Mourlot Frères, the photogravure reproductions, and the typography by Draeger Frères, was completed in Paris on July 28, 1958.
